An update from the CNN Haiti update feed –
12:55 p.m. — Former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton have agreed to help the Obama administration’s efforts to help bring swift aid to Haiti, according to two officials familiar with the discussions. The two former presidents will reprise the role that Clinton and Bush’s father played after the 2004 tsunami, and are expected to tape public service announcements and eventually travel to Haiti, according to the officials.
Great, just what we need. President Bush helping in relief efforts, since he was so wonderful in orchestrating Katrina’s emergency response. President Clinton, however, I have to commend. So far, it seems that he is doing all that he can to get emergency responders there immediately to rescue those trapped. Way to go Bill. And also I’d like to give a shoutout to Fairfax County’s Urban Search and Rescue team, which sent 72 emergency personnel to Haiti last night, among the first to arrive on the scene. Again, I wish there was more that I could do.
